Fundamentals week 4 and 5: exploring tropical ecology and resilience

Suba Seta Forest in Oromia region, EthiopiaJuly 17, 2019

Tropical forest ecosystems are complex. Participants are exploring the many ecological factors that shape forests, such as plant-animal interaction, evolution of biodiversity, ecosystem resiliency and responses to disturbance. With teachings from Dr. Mark AshtonDr. Liza ComitaDr. Florencia Montagnini and Dr. Os Schmitz, participants are learning about different ways that forests function and recover from disturbance. Participants are analyzing the ways in which these ecological processes guide the selection of conservation and restoration strategies.
